Mag Encoding Test – Fargo DTC4500

Take the following steps if you are experiencing mag encoding errors with your DTC4500:

Ensure that the cards are loaded in the correct orientation

Try different cards

Clean the transport rollers manually as the card may be slipping during the encoding process

Ensure that you have the correct coercivity set in the driver

Testing the Mag Encoder:

Go to your printers and faxes folder, right click on the Fargo DTC4500 and choose printing preferences

Click on the Diagnostic tab to Launch the Fargo Work Bench Utility

Click on the Encoding tab

Click on Magnetic Encoding

Click on Sample Mag Data

Click OK

Click the Encode Tab

A card will be inserted and encoded with the sample mag data

Use and external mag reader to verify the data in Windows Notepad
