Here are a few things to try if your Fargo HDP600 has a “No ribbon installed” error
1. Restart the printer and run a self test
2. Verify that the ribbon is loaded correctly
3. Upgrade the printer firmware
4. Try a different roll of ribbon
5. Check to make sure that the ribbon uptake hub retaining ring has not fallen off the shaft or that it does not have any play in it
6. Check that the ribbon tension setting matches the default value on the silver sticker inside the printer
If you are unable to resolve the issue the printer will need service
